According
to Father Roland Colhoun, practicing yoga is tatamount to Satanism and
that the popular exercise and form of meditation will lead you directly
into hell. Not only that, but Yogis communicate with “Satan and the
fallen angels” during their practices.
According to the Father:
“When you take up those practices from other cultures, which are outside our Christian domain, you don’t know what you are opening yourself up to. The bad spirit can be communicated in a variety of ways. I’m not saying everyone gets it, or that it happens every time, and people may well be doing yoga harmlessly, but there’s always a risk and that’s why the Pope mentioned it and that’s why we talk about that in terms of the danger of the new age movement and the danger of the occult today. That’s the fear.”
But not all Catholics agree with Father Colhoun’s statements on Yoga.
One yoga instructor chimed in, saying that she’s a good catholic and has
never talked to Satan once.
The Hindu community is rather irked by Colhoun’s remarks and are asking
the Pope to discipline this priest. It seems unlikely that he would be
disciplined however, as his statements aren’t terribly out of the
ordinary within Catholicism.
“Practicing yoga is Satanic, it leads to evil just like reading Harry Potter.”
If we could get all of our children to practice yoga and read more books, the world would probably be a better place.
